Former Madison Man On List of Suspected, Accused Boy Scout Molesters

The list, which encompasses the years 1970 to 1991 and includes 22 Connecticut men, was compiled by a Seattle lawyer who is suing the Boy Scouts of America.

Twenty-two Connecticut men are among a long list of Boy Scout leaders who were ejected between 1970 and 1991 by the Boy Scouts of America after the organization learned that they had either been charged with or accused of molestation or other sexual malfeasance.

The names are part of a long list compiled by Seattle lawyer Timothy Kosnoff, who calls his list "the largest compilation of criminological data of child molestation in a youth organization anywhere," according to a story today in The Star-Ledger of Newark, NJ.

It includes 22 Connecticut men from 19 Connecticut towns who served in the scouts, some dating back to the early 1970s.

Kosnoff’s list is separate from the official internal list compiled Boy Scout officials over the last four several decades of troop leaders suspected or accused of inappropriate conduct. That list will be released today.

BSOA releasing documents related to lawsuit

The Boy Scouts of  America today is releasing documents related to a lawsuit Kosnoff against the organization.

Two men who were members of Madison Boy Scout Troop # 490 have filed suit against the Boy Scouts of America, saying that they were abused by their former scoutmaster, when they were members of the troop in the early 1980's.

The lawsuit, in New Haven Superior Court, is being filed against the Boy Scouts of America, Corp., the Connecticut Yankee Council, Inc., and the Boy Scouts of America.

Lawyer says BSOA should have known ...

The lawyer for the two men, Kelly Clark of Portland, OR, who specializes in cases relating to abuse by Boy Scout leaders, says that the scouting organization knew or should have known that Davenport was a pedophile, because he was accused of child molestation while involved with the scouts in Weeping Water, Nebraska, Dodge Center, MN,  and Medford, MN, all before coming to Madison.

In February of this year, an Associated Press Report said Davenport was serving as an associate in congregational care at SunCoast Cathedral MCC in Venice, FL.

"Davenport, 74, didn't return a phone message left Tuesday at the SunCoast Cathedral Metropolitan Community Church in Venice, FL, where he is an associate pastor. His home phone number is unlisted," the Associated Press report in The Miami Herald said.
