Dense Fog Advisory In Effect Until 9 a.m. Thunderstorms Possible Later Today

A dense fog advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Wednesday for Madison, North Madison, all of southern Connecticut and parts of the tri-state area, the National Weather Service says.

Visibilities could be 1/4 to 1/2 mile and in some places lower, the NWS said.

"If driving, slow down, use your low beams headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead of you in case a sudden stop is needed," the NWS said.

Rain and thunderstorms are expected on and off Wednesday, but the forecast is calling for a turn towards sunny weather starting Thursday which could last through the weekend if the forecast holds.

Today: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before noon. Areas of dense fog before 9am. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 70. South wind between 5 and 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tonight: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11pm and midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 51. North wind between 7 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 70. North wind between 3 and 8 mph.

Thursday Night: Clear, with a low around 47. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 71. North wind 6 to 8 mph becoming south.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 52.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 70.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 52.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 70.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 54.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 70.
