Minor Coastal Flooding Possible Sunday Night, Early Monday

Sunday, slight chance of thunderstorms. Next week, mostly cloudy.

 

The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood advisory from 9 p.m. Sunday to 1 a.m. Monday for the shoreline of western Long Island Sound.

Tidal departures of around a half foot are possible.

On Sunday, high tide in Madison is at 10:30 a.m. and 10:47 p.m. Low tide Sunday is at 4:18 am and 4:27 p.m.

"Minor coastal flooding is expected along vulnerable locations," the NWS says. "A coastal flood advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore."

The extended forecast for Madison (updated at 5 a.m. Sunday) is as follows:

Sunday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2pm, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Increasing clouds, with a high near 72. Northwest wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a low around 55. Northwest wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Monday: A chance of showers before 10am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 10am and 11am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 11am. Cloudy, with a high near 62. North wind between 7 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Monday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a low around 50. North wind between 13 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tuesday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 65. North wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tuesday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Wednesday: A chance of showers between 11am and noon, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 68. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Wednesday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 69. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Thursday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 53. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
