Anthony "TJ" Salutari Named New Principal At Daniel Hand High School

Madison School Superintendent Thomas Scarice emphasized that TJ Salutari "brings a proven track record of developing strong relationships with students, staff and parents, while fostering an inclusive school culture."

The Board of Education, at its meeting on April 2, 2013, appointed Anthony (TJ) Salutari as the Principal for the Daniel Hand High School, effective July 1, 2013.    Mr. Salutari will replace Barbara Britton who will retire from her position at the end of the 2012- 2013 school year.

 Mr. Salutari has worked for the past six years as the Principal of the Rochambeau Middle School for Regional School District #15 in Southbury, Connecticut.  Mr. Salutari has previous experience as the Principal of the Thompson Middle School and Assistant Principal of the Mary R. Fisher Elementary School also in Thompson, Connecticut.

Mr. Salutari received his undergraduate degree in School Health Education from Southern Connecticut State University.  He also earned his Master’s Degree in Comprehensive Special Education and 6th Year Degree in Educational Leadership from Southern Connecticut State University.

Superintendent Scarice stated that the district received a number of well qualified applicants for the posted high school principal position.  Mr. Salutari participated in a very rigorous multi-step interview process with various school and community representatives.

He goes on to state that Mr. Salutari excelled in all interview phases and that he will be a welcome new addition to the Daniel Hand High School and the district’s overall administrative team.

In addition, Superintendent Scarice emphasized that Mr. Salutari brings a proven track record of developing strong relationships with students, staff and parents, while fostering an inclusive school culture.

Board of Education Chair, Deb Frey, commented that Mr. Salutari has established himself as a highly successful and well-respected student-centered administrator and that she is very excited by his appointment as Principal of Daniel Hand High School.

Mr. Saluatari is looking forward to the opportunity to move into this new administrative role with the Madison Public Schools and to continuing the legacy of excellence at Daniel Hand High School.
