Hand Girls Tennis Plays for State Championship today.

Led by Melissa Parker’s amazing and inspirational comeback yesterday against North Haven in the semi-finals, No #2 Hand
will play for the class M State Championship today at 3:00 on the Yale outdoor
courts. Their opponent will be No #1 ranked East Lyme and their undefeated 19-0
record.

Hand, 20-1, defeated Wilton and Barlow to reach the semi’s against North Haven.
Down 3-0 after the first three matches the tigers put on a tremendous show of grit by winning the next three
matches against a North Haven team playing their best tennis of the season.
Melissa, down after losing her first set loss at No.3 singles, rallied to a
tiebreaker in the second set and went on to win the third set in a battle of
will and stamina going four hours and forty minutes to clinch the 4-3 victory
for Hand and send them into the finals.

Sweeping the doubles competition at No. 1 doubles Claudia Lohn
and Gabby Diotalevi won in three sets and the No. 2
doubles team of Nicole Cahill and Callies Swiggett won in straight sets and the
No. 3  team of Alyssa Fleischman and Chloe
