Prayer Monday/The Prayer of Saint Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;

to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Prayer of Saint Francis

I love this prayer as it PERFECTLY describes the meaning of Wisdom and Life.  The prayer also does a commendable job of describing my purpose of incarnating is this my most recent lifetime.  The entire reason Wisdom and Life came about is to discuss how faith can strengthen our lives.  I clearly understand there are those in my circles who can feel uncomfortable when I discuss words like faith, like God, like Spirit.

But as I do my best to explain, when I use these words I’m not using them in a religious way.  I use these words in the universal divine interpretation.  My faith is such an important part of my life and I believe The Prayer of Saint Francis neatly describes part of my worldview; especially the first paragraph.

If you read back through my blog I think you’ll see all of these themes underlying my entire blog.

Where there is injury, let me paron.

Look at all I’ve written about Forgiveness.

Where there is doubt, faith

Look at all I’ve written about faith and spirituality.

This line in the 2nd paragraph:
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;

is another favorite of mine as I have said here many times that I no longer hold grudges.  I no longer stay angry.  Staying angry only hurts me.

I learned that valuable lesson several years ago after a lifetime of being challenged by it.  I’m so comforted by the fact that I’ve learned this lesson and if I can do JUST one thing in this, my latest incarnation it would be to teach people this lesson.  Teach them that peace is the only way.  Making me an instrument of peace.

This is the last Prayer Monday

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

Chris
