ACES Appoints Madison Resident Dr. James A. Hoko Director of ACES Behavior Services

Area Cooperative Educational Services (ACES) is pleased to announce that Dr. James (Jim) A. Hoko will become the Director of Behavioral Services effective January 1, 2015.

 Dr. Hoko began his career with ACES in 1988 as a Behavior Analyst / Developmental & Child Psychologist. In 2004, he was appointed as the Administrator of ACES ABA Autism Programs and tasked with the development and operation of ACES ABA Autism Programs. Additionally, Dr. Hoko has served as the Assistant Director for ACES Behavior Services Center. For four years prior to joining the ACES team, he held a Professional Traineeship with the National Institute of Mental Health. A doctoral-level Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA-D), Dr. Hoko received his Ph.D. in Developmental and Child Psychology from the University of Kansas.

He was a driving force in obtaining ACES approval by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board as an Approved Continuing Education Provider. In 2014, he launched ACES Behavior Analysis in Education Series (BAES), a continuing education series that features presentations by local, regional, and national experts in the fields of Behavior Analysis and Education.

 “Dr. Hoko’s contributions to ACES ABA autism programs have been exceptional. He has been instrumental in the development and management of ACES autism programs, including the Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention (EIBI) program for students between three and twelve years old and the Science-based Approaches to Independence and Life Skills (SAILS) program for older students. I look forward to working with him in his new capacity,” shared Dr. Thomas Danehy, ACES Executive Director.  

 The ACES Behavior Services Center (BSC) provides a wide array of programs and trainings designed to support students, teachers, parents and communities in resolving instructional and behavioral issues. ACES is the Regional Educational Service Center for the 25 school districts in South Central, Connecticut:  Ansonia, Bethany, Branford, Cheshire, Derby, East Haven, Hamden, Meriden, Middletown, Milford, Naugatuck, New Haven, North Branford, North Haven, Orange, Oxford, Regional District #5 (Amity), Regional District #13 (Durham, Middlefield), Regional District #16 (Prospect, Beacon Falls), Seymour, Wallingford, Waterbury, Waterbury, West Haven Wolcott, and Woodbridge .
