Why Settle For One Pink Gumball? Buy The Whole Store.

Given Fine Chocolates & Indulgences, at 696 Boston Post Road, a Madison business for the past eight years is up for sale, the owners have announced.

“Different changes in our lives have brought us to this sad decision. We opened the shop out of love for chocolate and the community. We have been proud to become such a staple in this town,” said Andrea Hutton, one of the owners.

Hutton said they are selling the shop intact, including contacts, computers, confection case, shelving, select furniture and glass jars. They also have a domain name/website available as a side item.

The website "was built two years ago by a company in Branford who houses it. It also has a fulfillment house in Waterbury who makes the chocolates and handles shipping," Hutton said.

Hutton said she and co-owner Gina Payne, both Madison residents, have decided to move on because their lives have changed.

"We just have gotten to the point where we want to put it up for sale," Hutton said. "Things in our lives have changed. Our children have gotten older. We're about to pay for college, that kind of thing."

Hutton said now seems like the right time to put the business up for sale.

"Sales are down, but it's still busy," she said. "We just thought it was the right time to put it up for sale and not renew the lease. We are not able to spend as much time here as we used to. When we started, our kids were little. Now they're grown and we're just not here as much." The lease is up at the end of August and Hutton said customers have expressed an interest in the business staying open later, a move that could help increase sales. The business is currently open from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

She said there have already been a few expressions of interest in the business.

Hutton said she and Payne will remain Madison residents, and she said they likely will both miss being part of the Madison business community.

She said she will also miss the kids who come in to the store.

"We had a little girl dancing around the other day because she got a pink gumball," Hutton said. "It was so cute. I wish I had something that could make me dance around like that the rest of the day."
