TV Tips For March 3: American Idol, Man vs. Wild, Jersey Shore

American Idol, 8 p.m., Fox

Of the changes they have made this season, big and small, tonight to me is the most significant. You know how we used to spend all of March whittling down the Top 24 to 12 (or that one hideous year when it was 36, or that other hideous year when we ended up with 13)? Well, this year we are going form 24 to 12, just like that. Oh, Nigel Lythgoe, you evil genius! Five boys and five girls will advance based on America’s votes (and you can basically vote in public bathrooms at this point), and then the judges pick 2. Oh, and JLo’s new video debuts. Big night.

 Man vs. Wild, 9 p.m., Discovery

Bear goes to Norway. Where he will end up in a fjord, I’m guessing.

 Jersey Shore, 10 p.m., MTV

Sammi returns. The toilet remains clogged.
