The weather feels more like June than September, but you won't find anyone complaining. We've been blessed with warm temperatures and low humidity for the past four weeks, and a final trip to the beach is likely on our to-do list this weekend!
HAMMONASSET FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND!
You won't want to miss the 2013 Hammonasset Festival featuring music, native skills and nature. This event celebrates music, native skills and nature. The event will be held at the Hammonasset Beach State Park on October 5th and 6th(Saturday and Sunday) from 10am to 5pm. Highlights of this year's event include:
·Erin Meeches and Native Nations Dance Troupe
·World Atlatl Championships
·Allan Saunders (Mohegan) Opening Blessing and Smudging Ceremony
·Ranger Russ Miller, MNPC Director, Exotic Pets Show
· A Place Called Hope - Live Raptors
·Live Amphibians-Ansonia Nature Center
·Mattab ii. Allan Madahbee (Ojibway) and Mark Ingram(African-American/Cherokee)music of Mother Earth
·Arvel Bird (Paiute) Native American/Celtic fusion music
Admission is $5; children under 10 are free.

The 2013 North Madison Volunteer Fire Company (NOMADs) Open House will be held Sunday, October 6 from noon to 3 PM. Come to the firehouse to tour the building and the equipment, participate in hands-on fire safety activities, and watch a live kitchen fire! There will be something for kids and adults alike. Children can learn about fire safety and prevention. Adults can see how the NOMADs serves the northern fire district of the Town of Madison. Come see our fire apparatus, equipment, and what it's like to be a firefighter. Drop by anytime between 12 & 3 PM. The live kitchen fire demonstration will begin at 2:15 PM. They're located at the corner of Route 79 & Opening Hill Road, just south of the circle.

The Healing Room, located at 85 Wall Street in Madison is celebrating its first Anniversary on October 9th.
This Day Spa features Reiki, nails, makeup, and products for healthy, beautiful living. Since the first day, they have added a fantastic make up line, Mineralogie, and the pedicure chair is adding to everyone's pleasure. The most recent addition of the new body care line, Farmhouse Fresh (FHF), is delightfully and naturally fragrant, sulfate and paraben free and vegan! Their most recent addition of Young Living Essential Oils takes their healing to the next level.
