R.J. Julia Used Book Buyback Days Saturday And Sunday

It's easy to participate, but it's best to plan ahead by submitting the book's ISBN. Here's information on how to do that.

R.J. Julia Used Book Buyback Days are Saturday, June 9th 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, June 10th, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

If your bookcases and shelves are getting crowded once again, R.J. Julia has the perfect solution. This weekend they'll be holding a used book buyback. It's simple to sell your books for store credit.

Here's all you need to do:

At any time from now until Sunday, June 10th you can visit the RJJ website -  www.rjjulia.com - and click on the Used Book Buyback link on the homepage.  Or,  click here to access the buyback page directly.

Enter each book's ISBN (click here for more information) to determine which books have "buyback value," and print out the confirmation page indicating that value.

Bring in the books and your confirmation page any time between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 9th or  10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 10th.

RJJ booksellers will inspect the quality of the books, accept books in "good condition," confirm your buyback value, and issue you a store credit for that amount (you can use the credit toward the purchase of anything in the store - including the new books you'd rather have!).

Can't go online?  Don't worry, you can still bring your books in during the buyback days and RJJ booksellers evaluate them to determine whether they have buyback value.

Please note:  If you bring in a large quantity of books, with or without a confirmation page, RJJ may ask you to come back later in the day or the next day to give them an opportunity to process your books.  They say thanks in advance for your patience and cooperation!

Of course, in all cases, the books must be in good condition.  By good they mean:
- no rips, tears, stains, or odors;
- no writing or highlighting (excepting an owner's name in the front);
- no loose pages;
- all hardcovers originally sold with a dust jacket must include the jacket; and
- books that come with accompanying media (e.g., a CD) must include the media in good working order.

Questions? Just call RJJ at 203-245-3959.

Have extra books that aren't eligible for buyback? RJJ will also be accepting donations for Read to Grow. They can take gently used kids' books for newborns through high school readers, and the books will be given to Read to Grow to distribute to families throughout Connecticut.

The plan to let dogs off leash needs clarification. The park and the town are in the planning phasesRead More of a fenced off leach area that was designed by landscape architecture students from UCONN. This is part of the overall plan for the the park. The area slated for use is north of the Bauer Farmhouse on the other side of Copse road. It is in the wooded area on the other side of the brook abutting the cliffs. I agree dogs should be allowed off leash, however some dog owners are not in full control of their dogs, so the fenced off leash area is a good alternative for the safety and enjoyment of all.

I think a fenced in area is the way to go. Not everyone has control over their dogs. I often walkRead More there with my dog and little kids and my kids have been knocked down and even nipped at by excited dogs whose owners have no control. We go to the dog park in Clinton all the time and the dogs have a great time and it's great for young dogs who aren't 100% trained yet.

Leslie, please note these are not rules being introduced. Madison's leash laws are years old, theRead More new request is to allow dogs off leash in specific areas. To the best of my knowledge dog owners allowing dogs to run free are violating current law. Driving down Copse rd often, i have seem dogs run into the road. I think the responsible thing is to fence in a large portion of the property to allow dogs to be free of leashes, run freely, get great exercise, and frolic with dogs owned by similarly minded and responsible owners who accept the potential risk of an occasional bite or two. I have lived in Madison for 20 years and we have always had a leash law...
