Here is more information from the Espresso Book Machine website:

A library or bookstore exists to help readers connect with the books they want, and now, with our Espresso Book Machine (EBM), we're eager to help authors connect their works with others. This is your opportunity to turn your novel, poetry, journal, family history, or even your collection of family recipes, into actual, beautiful, readable objects. The EBM will transform your work into a paperback book complete with a full color cover and a black and white interior, indistinguishable from books produced by traditional publishers.
There are no minimum print runs, so you can print as many or as few copies as you want, when you want. You can even print a work-in-progress, uploading revised files and printing new versions at any time. You can offer your book for sale or keep it private (printable only by you), whichever best suits your project. In the event you do choose to make your book available for sale, you retain all rights to your work, and you set your own retail price.
