Power Restored To North Madison Shopping Plaza

North Madison Wine and Spirits will remain open Saturday until normal closing time of 8 p.m.; Roberts will reopen in the morning; Wiring problem or transformer malfunction may have been culprit.

An electrical problem left the North Madison Shopping Plaza without power most of the day Saturday.

A spokeswoman for Roberts Food Center in the plaza said power was restored around 6 p.m. after having been out for most of the day. She said the store does not plan to open for the rest of Saturday, but plans to be open Sunday at 8 a.m.

Bob Buess, a manager at North Madison Wine and Spirits said around 6:20 p.m. that the store was open and plans to be open Saturday until its normal closing time of 8 p.m. North Madison Wine and Spirits was operating by flashlight power for part of the day.

A spokeswoman from Connecticut Light & Power said Saturday evening that there appeared to be a problem with a cable in the area. She said the problem affected eight customers from around noon to about 5:30 p.m.
