Pho Madison Now Open

The menu has a wide variety of items and anything can be made just vegetarian for those who prefer their food that way, Madison Pho owner Doan Halleck says.

Pho Madison, located at 1306 Boston Post Road in Madison, just over the Clinton town line, opened Saturday.

On Wednesday, Helayne Lightstone of South Street in Dud's Village and Cheshire, and Bob Porrello of East Islip, Long Island, NY, were eating there. For the second time. After their first meal they couldn't wait to go back. They intend to become regulars.

"It's that good," said Porello. "We've been here twice since Saturday."

Porrello recommends 1, 2 and 6. The summer shrimp roll, the Vietnamese salad, and a special Vietnamese soup with noodles and chicken.

Lightstone says she's happy with everything she's eaten there. The food tastes healthy, and is filling without being too heavy.

Owner Doan Halleck of Clinton says she is happy to be open and is hoping people will give it a try. The menu has a wide variety of items and anything can be made just vegetarian for those who prefer their food that way, she says.

New to Vietnamese food? Halleck recommends 6, 7 and 13 ... the soup that Porrello mentioned as a favorite, another soup with beef, and a Vietnamese sandwich with pork or beef, cilantro, scallions, chili peppers and soy sauce.

The restaurant is open from 11 am to 8 pm Monday through Saturday, and from noon to 8 pm on Sunday. Takeout is available as well and for families that love variety, Nuzzo's Pizza, a longtime local favorite, is right next door.
