Madison's Favorite Place To Buy Candy? Given!

Jelly Beanery comes in second. The Village Chocolatier on the Guilford Green comes in third.

 

Madison Patch readers have voted and in Madison's downtown shopping district at 696 Boston Post Road, Madison, has won first place in our .

"Love the Penny Candy, they have cool shirts and Madison paraphernalia designed by the owners," said Patch reader Ellen, in the comments. "The store is so pretty, love going in there."

Patch reader Sally Scott said in the comments that Given is her top choice as well.

"Given is the best!!!!!! Cute shop, yummy candy, love the salted caramels!!!!! Also the adorable animal shaped truffles! They have a beautiful selection if vintage candy dishes!!!!!"

, in the west end of town, came in second and was a particular favorite with movie lovers who want to buy something to snack on while enjoying a movie from Dial M for Movies, which is part of the shop.

"I love the Jelly Beanery," said Patch reader Amy Johnson. "Not only do they have a wide variety of candy, they are born and raised locals who generously give back to the community. The atmosphere is fun filled and service is excellent!!"

A late entry,The Village Chocolatier on the Guilford Green, was recommended by readers, and managed to pull in enough votes to come in third.

"Village Chocolatier in Guilford is a fabulous store! My 20-something kids still request candy from that store for the various holidays throughout the year," said Patch reader Ellie Gillespie. "Their turtles (my favorite) yummy and they are not terribly expensive."

Another late nomination, recommended by readers on Facebook, Madison Chocolate at Splash, also in Guilford, wasn't on the poll long enough to garner any votes before the poll ended, but it did get some enthusiastic reviews on Facebook.

Dyan Salemi, the owner of In O' Scents Of Madison, a company that specializes in all things that are good, swears by Madison Chocolate at Splash, which is right over the Madison town line in Guilford. "Madison Chocolate..the best and they make their own chocolate," Salemi said on Facebook. Salemi often adds Madison Chocolate to the gift baskets she makes.

It's nice to live in a town that has so many options when it comes to all that is sweet.
