Madison Beach Hotel, With Spa and Two Restaurants, Scheduled To Open In August

"Soft Opening" For Some Events Scheduled For July

The Madison Beach Hotel is scheduled to open in August, says Madison Beach Hotel Vice President Scott Duques.

"Our goal is for a soft opening in July, and a full opening in August," Duques said Tuesday evening. "We're hoping for early August."

Duques said the hotel will have two restaurants, run by Executive Chef Francois Kwaku-Dongo. Kwaku-Dongo, raised on a farm on the Ivory Coast in West Africa, is an advocate of using fresh produce from local farms, Duques said. Kwako-Dongo has been Executive Chef at Spago West Hollywood and L’ Escale Restaurant in Greenwich, CT.

The first-floor restaurant, called The Wharf, will be casual with a large bar area outfitted with televisions. A raw bar is planned outside on the deck. The bar area adjacent to this restaurant will have a view of the water.

The second-floor restaurant, called Tides on the Sound, will be an upscale steak and seafood venue.

The spa will be called Sounds of the Sea, and will have three treatment rooms, one couples room, two locker rooms, and a fitness and yoga room, said Spa & Retail Manager Stephanie Gong, who also is Duques' fiancee.

The Madison Beach Hotel website says there will be 33 rooms and suites decorated in "traditional New England beachfront" style with sleigh beds and French doors leading to private balconies overlooking the water. Large flat screen televisions, luxury linens, and premium bath products will be standard. Some rooms will have gas fireplaces and large soaking tubs, the website says.

The hotel was originally scheduled to open in May 2011.
