It's The Last Week For The Grassy Strip Movies And Music Series!

On Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. Tangled, which features Rapunzel breaking free from that tower. On Thursday the Music & Arts Series will feature The Fixx, along with artists and artisans featuring their wares. Madison's Dyan Salemi of In O'Scents will be there!

This is the final week of the summer Movie and Music series on the Grassy Strip at the Madison Beach Hotel. Area residents are welcome to attend and bring blankets or beach chairs to sit. Both the movies and music are free and open to the public.

On Tuesday, Tangled will be featured at 8:30 p.m. on the Grassy Strip in front of the hotel:

Directed by Nathan Greno and Byron Howard, the animated film stars Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi and Donna Murphy. The film is about the magically long-haired Rapunzel, who has spent her entire life in a tower, but now that a runaway thief has stumbled upon her she is about to discover the world for the first time and who she really is.

On Thursday, The Fixx will be featured on the Grassy Strip. The artists and artisans usually put their wares on display sometime after 6 p.m., with the music starting after that.  Here is information about the band from the Grassy Strip website:

The FIXX may very well be the most significant international popular music act to perform in Madison, CT. The multi-platinum selling band of such hits as "One Thing Leads to Another", "Red Skies", and "Are We Ourselves?" have just released their 11th studio album – Beautiful Friction -- and are supporting the album with a tour of the U.S. Cy Curnin, lead singer and songwriter for the band, is personal friends with Lou Carrier, President of Distinctive Hospitality Group, which manages the Madison Beach Hotel.

Madison Beach Hotel is at 94 West Wharf Rd. inMadison, CT. For more information, please call 203-245-1404.

In my opinion, the free concerts are merely a PR stunt. Once the Madison Beach Hotel gains control of the Grassy Strip and has lasting parking arrangements it will book for profit events all summer and destroy the character of the Madison Shoreline! If we do not stop it now we will have to live with noise and traffic every summer forever! Welcome to the new "Jersey Shore"!
