Inside Sidewalk Sales All Around The Block Downtown Madison Thursday, Friday, Saturday

Second annual event features up to 75 percent off at participating retailers. Check the list of who is participating here.

 

Madison’s Second Annual Inside Sidewalk Sale will take place at participating retailers Jan. 19, 20, and 21.

Madison Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Eileen Banisch said this time of year is a relatively slow period for retailers everywhere.

"When we were growing up, department stores always had January "White Sales" (bed linens, towels, etc.) to spur sales," she said. "This is only the second time the retailers have held these sales, and last year the weather was not cooperative. The forecast looks much drier and warmer for 2012, so we're anticipating stronger sales."

Joel Stander from Khaki & Black said retailers downtown have high hopes that the sale will be successful.

"There are some great buys out there, like we'll have T shirts starting at $9 and Hudson Jeans at $59," he said. "Hopefully this will generate some good volume for all of us."

Savings of up to 75% off will be offered at the stores, Banisch said. The sale includes merchants all around the block downtown, including Wall Street, the Boston Post Road, and Station Square, which can be accessed by a walkway that runs behind Madison Hose Co. No. 1 and the CVS plaza. Station Square also has its own parking lot off of Bradley Road, at the corner of Route 79/Durham Road.
