Help Wanted: Middlesex Hospital Seeking Medical Assistant For Madison Urgent Care Facility

Job Details:

  • New opportunity in our Madison Urgent Care Facility for a Receptionist/Medical Assistant to work in an office setting with MA and other medical office duties.  The UC facility is scheduled to open in the Spring of 2014.  Hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 8 am and 8 pm, Saturdays and Sundays from 8 am - 5 pm.

We are looking for both Full-time and Part-time Receptionists/Medical Assistants to staff this facility to include rotating weekends and evenings.  Scheduling is open for discussion.    

Job Summary: The Receptionist/Medical Assistant is the central point of communication among patients, providers and other members of the health care team.  She/he provides a superior level of service excellence to patients, physicians and staff in a caring and supportive manner. The Receptionist/Medical Assistant protects patients’ rights by maintaining strict patient confidentiality of personal and financial information at all times.  Under the direction of the Primary Care Provider, the MA performs certain clinical duties, and assists the Providers to assure each patient is provided timely and effective care.

Job Duties:

-Take patient histories and vital signs.

-Prepares patients for examination and treatment procedures. 

-Prepare examination and treatment rooms with necessary instruments

-Dispense medication as directed

-Apply splints and dressings, prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments including sterilization.

-Assist physicians in preparing for minor surgeries and physicals.

-Perform phlebotomy and distributive laboratory paperwork.

-Handle telephone calls from clients, patients, prospective patients, physicians, pharmaces, as well as other staff.

-Greet patients in a positive and helpful manner.

-Gather necessary demographic and insurance information from patient

-Collect payments, insurance co-pays, medicine charges

-Generate fee slips for patients according to prescribed procedures

-Perform various clerical duties such as photocopying forms, reports and patient information, faxing forms, filing forms/charts.

-Performs other duties as assigned

 

Job Requirements:

Mature, responsible, team oriented individual. High school diploma or equivalent. Medical Assistant certification preferred.  Experience within a physician's office highly preferred.  

Excellent communication and phone skills, knowledge of physician office managed care requirements and basic understanding of coding is essential.  Medical office reception experience a plus.
