Guilford Resident Opening Up Boutique In Madison

Anyone who shopped in downtown Guilford several years ago will remember the Onyx boutique. Run by Chris Kuzyk of Guilford, it specialized in women's fashions, gifts, jewlery, and home decor. 

That store closed about two years ago and now Kyzyk is ready to give it another go. Recently, when she was walking in downtown Madison, she saw a sign beckoning her. France-Ameriques had just closed and the quaint little building that housed it was available for rent. "Just by chance, I happened to see the sign," she said. 

At the end of next week, Kuzyk hopes to be open and ready for business. She's shifted the mix a bit and no longer plans to do home decor, but fans of her fashion sense from Guilford will be glad to hear she still plans to stock women's clothing. Among her other offerings will be items from The Ark Clothing Co. in Australia. 

Kuzyk said she likes the clothing line because it's good for a wide variety of body types and the store is owned by a woman, the clothing is designed by women, and it's cut and made by women in Australia. 

Kuzyk said it's easy to mix and match the clothing. "It's not how many pieces you own, it's about how you wear them," she said. 

She also plans to carry jewelry as well. The store is located at 685 Boston Post Road in the Madison downtown shopping and restaurant district. The phone number is 203-421-6977.
