Cumby's Pitching In To Help Keep Kids Safe On Graduation Night; Last Day Is Tuesday!

Cumberland Farms Downtown Plans To Raise At Least $1,000 To Help Nite In Hand

Cumberland Farms is planning a month-long fundraiser to help support Daniel Hand High School's annual Nite In Hand celebration, which is designed to help keep kids safe on graduation night.

The event will kick off Tuesday, Feb. 8th at 3 p.m. with a Grand Re-Opening ribbon cutting. after undergoing extensive renovations. The store has for a long time been a popular place with local teens, and others, looking for food-to-go and something to drink.

The re-opening was greeted with enthusiasm by regulars who found much to like, from the make-your-own milkshake machine to the mix-your-own sodas. Fresh fruit, sandwiches, pizza, smoothies and even cheeseburger hotdogs (that's right, cheeseburger hotdogs) are offered.

“We are just delighted that Cumberland Farms selected Nite in Hand as the local educational charity to support during its Grand Opening celebration,” said Alisa Masterson, co-chair for Nite in Hand, in a prepared release.

“The event is a huge part of the graduation experience for the seniors at Hand High School and we are always so pleased to see the level of community support for the all-night event that is a fun and safe way for seniors to celebrate with their friends and launch the next phase of their lives," Masterson said. "Cumberland Farms’ generous contribution will be a big help to us as we work to raise the money to create an amazing experience for the class of 2011!"

During the month-long fundraiser, Cumberland Farms will donate 20 cents from every Chill Zone beverage and cup of coffee sold at its 633 Boston Post Road store in Madison to benefit the school’s 22nd annual Nite in Hand event.  An alcohol-free graduation night party, the event plays a crucial role in keeping Madison’s students safe. Monies raised by the Cumberland Farms fundraiser will help provide the students with food, decorations and games/entertainment for the all-night party.

Cumberland Farms said it  plans to raise at least $1,000 for the program.

“We know how busy high school students and their families are this time of year,” said Ari Haseotes, president of Cumberland Farms Retail Division, in the prepared release.  “It’s our pleasure to make things just a little bit easier to help Madison’s students make smart choices, have fun and stay safe.”

In the last year, Cumberland Farms has donated more than $100,000 to support local schools and students in communities across the Northeast.
