Cheers to La Cuisine, The Business that Started in Guilford Now Expands Menu in Branford

After years of serving loyal customers, the well-known café and caterer has obtained a full liquor license; find out why.

Driving by La Cuisine’s location in Branford on East Main Street, it’s hard not to notice their large sign declaring, “Now serving beer and wine.” Café General Manager Brendan Bloom confirmed the news stating that the café has been offering beer, wine and spirits since Sept. 7.

The reason he said, is that: “We wanted to expand our offerings so our customers who have always been with us can have beer or wine with breakfast and lunch.”

Since opening their café doors in 2007 – La Cuisine has been in the catering business for more than 30 years where it started in Guilford – the restaurant has been offering breakfast and lunch. “Of course we hope it will build our business,” said Bloom, “but for our customers, they’re not wanting for anything anymore.”

Over the years Bloom, whose father and mother Ben and Patty Bloom own La Cuisine, said diners have often commented how nice it would be to have a glass of wine with lunch. In addition to answering that call, Bloom said they will be offering bloody Marys and mimosas – two popular brunch drinks. The bloody Mary mix is made from scratch said Bloom and the mimosa features fresh squeezed juice and an Argentinean sparking wine. Their inaugural spirits service debuted with peach Bellinis according to their Facebook page.

While drinks will be offered by table service for now – there’s no bar in La Cuisine – Bloom said they are talking about offering dinner service in the future. Having a full liquor license makes dinner service more attractive said Bloom.

In addition to their new drink choices, La Cuisine also has a brand new website.

For those looking to still BYOB, the corkage fee will be $10.
