Found the Dream Job! Now Whaaat?

For those of you that know me, you know I have gotten into practicing yoga pretty regularly and deeply relate to its “union” of mind and body ethos.  So much can be learned by slowing down.  Three years ago, I learned about a yoga, music and outdoor festival called Wanderlust that was being held at Stratton Mountain Resort in Vermont.  I have gone every year since and love being among these communities gathered with kind and loving intentions to simply, “be”, express and experience.  The people that go are from all walks of life, ages and incomes; all seekers for a life-balance just right for them.  Quite moving to witness.

I want to be a part of the health and well being field and have multiple resumes into diverse positions ranging from Camp Director for Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, Development Director, Outward Bound to Sales Director, Vail Resorts.  They all relate to health and well being, require marketing, sales and creative branding skills I possess and a clear commitment to the field.  The last eight years, I have created and managed a successful massage therapy practice, written life-lesson poetry, matched it with photography and exhibited it and spoken publicly on topics such as stress, career transitions and fitting in.  In a nutshell, I am a health and well being professional who happens to have a ton of marketing and communications skills to offer!

The “dream position” came to me several days ago hitting me like a bolt of lightning. I was scanning my usual morning emails from job boards and LinkedIN had on its masthead, “Marketing Manager for Wanderlust Festivals, LLC”.   Friends and family who’ve read the description, usually exclaim before they are finished, “This is you Bob!!!!”

See for yourself. They write:

About you:  yoga, health & wellness is a true lifestyle for you, not a form of exercise. Inspiration strikes you often, and you can take an idea from inception to realization all by yourself.  You write well, and often find yourself thinking of that clever, catchy phrase that embodies a person, thing or experience.  You understand the yoga audience and know what yogis think is beautiful. You are self-starter and don’t often find yourself wondering what to do next.  While you can improvise like a jazz master, you prefer make a plan and follow it – and inspire others to follow it.  You don’t mind getting your hands dirty if it’s necessary to get the job done. While you know and understand social networks, you’re a people person and love to communicate the “old fashioned way,” building relationships in person or on the phone.  You love to travel and enjoy the great outdoors – you have wanderlust.

I started brainstorming how to connect with these inspired people so I opened a “Premium” LinkedIN account to be able to email them directly. Done. Then I connected a bunch of my contacts who LinkedIN said knew someone who knew the Wanderlust peeps.  This has been a bit more difficult but hey, I asked and that’s something!  I searched names and addresses, got a hit and decided to send a hard copy of my things overnight delivery to their location. Either they got the envelope full of my inspirations and will call me soon or someone else with their name did and perhaps is cool enough to let me know.  I notified my inner circle of old bosses and colleagues asking for letters of reference in case I could use them to email Wanderlust folks. Done.  Now, I sit here three days since learning of the job, the description next to my laptop with my most excellent, pragmatic and inspired cover letter under it, feeling good about what I have done and now transitioning into waiting for them to respond. Geeeez! Not easy people. Not easy when you are 100% COMMITTED to this path, possessing not a “thinking” notion but a “KNOWING” one that this is what I have been preparing for these last eight years and maybe my whole life.

Seeing something so clearly is beautiful and I hope all of you have the experience.  It feels easy, light, powerful, gentle, safe, exciting, expansive and so organic to my soul.  If I can just get in front of them to let them feel my energetic signature, see my skills and life experiences they will know it is I who they have been searching for.  Friends and family sometimes say things like, “Be careful you don’t get hurt or disappointed too badly” when they hear my sureness.  I cannot do this any other way.  I don’t want to. Hurt be damned!  Either I will be the next Marketing Manager for Wanderlust or I will be something I haven’t anticipated but that will come as a result of my all-out commitment to this opportunity.

I have been participating in a 21-Day Meditation Challenge with Deepak Chopra and Oprah Winfrey called “Miraculous Relationships” referring the good, kind and loving relationships we all want in our lives.  I invite you check it out if you have not already: https://chopracentermeditation.com/home.   Yesterday’s centering thought was:  I release and my heart is at peace.  Our mantra was:  Om Anadham Namah, Sanskrit (an ancient Indian language) meaning “My actions are blissfully free from attachment to outcome.”  How amazing these words are to me and what lessons they provide for the choices I make connecting with the Wanderlust people.  I must concentrate on living and expressing my Truth.  Being authentic to it, I am able to come from a place of expanding, limitless love, not a place of need or fear.  Today’s centering thought is: “I fearlessly speak my Truth with love.”  MMMM. Isn’t it wild when we get messages for inner feelings from things or people in our outer lives? I believe in signs. Do you?  https://twitter.com/WanderlustFest
