TV Tips For Feb. 23: Justified, Survivor: Redemption Island, American Idol

So Many Channels, So Little Time

Justified, 10 p.m., FX

Two good friends of mine were always after me last year to check out this new show on FX, starring Timothy Olyphant as U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens. I should’ve listened to them because a) experience has taught me they are never wrong and b) the show is based on an Elmore Leonard character, and I loooooooove Elmore Leonard. So I watched a few of the first season episodes to catch before last week’s season premiere and let me just pass along the recommendation: This show is great. The writing, acting, locale, shoot-outs, etc., etc., all great.

Survivor: Redemption Island, 8 p.m., CBS

Loved the premiere last week. Loved the looks on everyone’s faces when Rob and Russell appeared. Loved the inner workings (and that’s the part I don’t usually like), and I can’t wait to see what happens with the whole Redemption Island thing –duels! Can certainly live without all those ridiculous “what if moments” – hard to believe there aren’t enough air-able moments from the actual competition that they need to pad the show with these stupid rehashes.

 American Idol, 8 p.m., Fox
