1. “VOICES OF LOVE” OPEN MIC NIGHT

WHERE/WHEN: Friday at 7 p.m. at R.J. Julia

WHY GO: Get in the mood for Valentine’s Day! You’ll get to listen to Madison’s bravest read love poems—and enjoy Prosecco and chocolate!

WHERE/WHEN: Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hammonasset Beach State Park.

WHY GO: You’ll feel extra warm as those plungers take to the chilly water. And you’ll be helping to raise money for the Special Olympics.

PRICING: The event is free to attend, but donations are, of course, welcome!

3. TAKE YOUR SWEETHEART TO BREAKFAST

WHERE/WHEN: Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Branford.

WHY GO: Don’t let your sweetheart think you’ve forgotten Valentine’s Day! This is a pretty easy way to show you care—and snag a delicious meal.

WHERE/WHEN: Saturday and Sunday at Bishop’s Orchards in Guilford from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

WHY GO: Monday’s the big day—do you have your present yet? The “Wind Beneath Our Wings” Avon Breast Cancer Team will be selling jewelry, chocolate, stuffed animals and more with 100 percent of proceeds benefitting the fight against breast cancer.

PRICING: It doesn’t matter how much or little you spend on your valentine, because the proceeds are going to a great cause.

WHERE/WHEN: Saturday at 7 p.m. at the North Madison Congregational Church.

WHY GO: She’s a legend. And she’s playing in North Madison.

PRICING: Tickets are $20 for adults, $5 for kids in high school and younger.
