Learn new art making skills and improve the ones you already have. Intermediate and beginner artists welcomed.

All Hands on Deck!
Draw your favorite things. We will make your small drawings into a deck of cards. Learn the art of inking your drawings, making patterns, s...ymbols, and templates. There will be wild cards in every deck! Learn to “point the lead”, hold your pencil, practice line, tone building methods, and constructing your subjects with scribbles, spirals, and such.

Ocean Life
Paint an ocean world in the spirit of Henri Matisse. Make your own collage of cut-outs. Turn the shapes into fish. Add sparkle.

Super Hero. If you were one, what would your Super Power be? Would you be able to clean up your room in 1 minute or fly yourself to school in the morning? Make a super hero self portrait. Will you go down in herstory or history? After sketching, we will first focus on constructing the characters and their poses with scribble, spirals and such. We will then learn to render them in uniform outline. Learn about anatomy, proportion, line, value and form as we draw portraits. Pencil, crayon and charcoal.

Hanging Out
Make a mobile in the spirit of Alexander Calder to hang in your room.
Learn about balance, weight, form and movement.
After visiting Calder’s stunning mobiles, together, we will construct our mobiles out of cardboard, paper clips, thumb tacks, wire and paint.

Mixed Media
Creative adventures from all over the world including mobius strips, optical illusions, frottage, tangrams, and origami

$250/week. Register online at www.themadisonartsbarn.org. Open to students entering 5th grade and up.
