POLLY SHINDLER AT MADISON ARTS CINEMA
April 20-May 20-Opening May 3rd 5pm
Polly Shindler’s work is a composite of primitive forms, contemporary color and hand-drawn scrawl. At MAC, she is showcasing a newer body consisting of tribal-themed paintings and invented landscapes. She is creating new symbols, melding modern materials and imagined tribal markings. The paintings are done in many layers of acrylic and scratched into to evoke a naive and innocent hand. However, the colors communicate a modern sensibility and a nod to pop art.
Polly Shindler was born in New Haven, CT. She received her M.F.A in Painting at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. Polly was recently named one of “30 Artists to Watch in 2012” by NY Arts Magazine. Recent shows include SCOPE art fair, MsBehavior at ArtBridge Drawing Room in NYC, Chromophilia at Brooklyn Artists Gym and Paper:Work at Rogue Space Gallery NYC. She resides and works in Brooklyn, New York.
