Madison in the Golden Age of Postcards

Due to some confusion about the actual starting time, Henry Griggs will be at the library at 7 p.m., but the actual presentation will start closer to 7:30 p.m.

Friends of Scranton Library invite you to meet local collector Henry Griggs on Monday June 6  in the Community Room. Come hear Henry's illustrated talk and learn about the history of postcards and postcard collecting in America. Come view Henry's collection of more than 70 antique cards of Madison, East River and Hammonasset in the decades before World War I. Did you know that Congress help set off the postcard craze? Did you know that Germany and Queen Victoria played a role in popularizing this hobby? Join the fun as you play "Then and Now" with postcards from 100 years ago compared with photographs of the same sites today. Let us know you'll be coming www.scrantonlibrary.org/calendar
