Do You Have A Young Writer?

Start A Writing Club!

If your kids like to write, think about starting a writing club. Include your children's friends, or children in the neighborhood.

Get together once or twice a month, and have the kids bring something that they've written, and read it out loud. If the kids like to draw, as well, they could illustrate their work and pass it around at the club.

Give your club a name, and if you like, a theme. The Kids' Adventure Writing Club, the Kids' Animal Writing Club, the Green Street Detectives' Writing Club, or the like. Have snacks, move the club from home to home and see what develops.

Not only will this keep them occupied, it will develop their writing skills and their public speaking skills. And who knows? You might have some real writers in the group!

If you have a young author who is interested in writing a book and need some guidance on that, you can check out this book available through RJ Julia online: Look at My Book: How Kids Can Write & Illustrate Terrific Books by Loreen Leedy.
