Who Is Still Stuck?

The town and private contractors continue to work around the clock to clear roads clogged with the icy leftovers of the Blizzard of 2013. Are you plowed out? Let us know. Are you still waiting? Let us know.

If you are still not plowed out, be sure to email the town at storminfo@madisonct.org. There were some technical problems with that email early Monday, but they have since been resolved, said First Selectman Fillmore McPherson.

Monday, on Facebook, we started a conversation on the Madison Patch Facebook page, about which roads were still impassable. See below for that conversation.

Let us know how you are doing today. Are you plowed out? Let us know when and what you saw. Are you still waiting? Let us know that too.

To keep the conversation real, please use your real name, and let us know your street. Also, let us know whether it's a private road or a town-owned road. Videos and photos are welcome.

Here is the conversation we started on Facebook Monday morning:

Madison Patch: What roads are still impassable? could you please list and let me know if private or public. thanks.

E-mail the town officials, they could be asking the Connecticut National Guard for help digging out.
Pem McNerney (Editor) February 12, 2013 at 03:28 PM
Oh! I did not know that. Thanks.
Pem McNerney (Editor) February 12, 2013 at 03:30 PM
Be careful walking on the roads. Most people are driving carefully, but some not so much ... btw ... I'm in North Haven right now taking a friend [who is still blocked in] to the dentist ... Washington Avenue here is still a work in progress. Passable, but some areas [by Big Y and Stop & Shop] are only a half a lane. ConnDOT working on that. Drove into a residential area in Wallingford, where most secondary roads were clear, but side roads were still a work in progress.
Pem McNerney (Editor) February 12, 2013 at 03:31 PM
btw ... the above is anecdotal and based on limited observations ... I did not do a thorough check of either town ... that's probably clear, just wanted to make sure it didn't sound like I was characterizing the entire town in either case ... just what I saw on a quick drive through ...

Just walked back from Stop & Shop. They have done hunters trail from both ends (79 and Copse) but stopped in the middle with about 4 driveways blocked of with 5 feet of snow. Asked the plow guy who was cleaning Timber Ridge if he was going to do the additional 50 feet and he said no.
James Hellman February 12, 2013 at 04:06 PM
Make the call . . . Connecticut National Guard spokesman Col. John Whitford said Sunday that there are more than 4,000 troops available to help, but cities and towns must make requests through the state office of emergency management. Whitford said the guard can assist with removing snow or rescuing stranded residents.
Pem McNerney (Editor) February 12, 2013 at 04:06 PM
Oh my goodness .. how frustrating for those four households ... wonder why that is? Would love a pic if you can get it easily and safely ... Was it a town plow guy or contractor, do you know?
Cameron Peterson February 12, 2013 at 04:27 PM
My parents can't get out at all because Lee Way off of Neck Road is not plowed. It's a private association, but they can't get anyone to come plow Lee Way and Taylor Avenue. Anyone willing to do the job, please call Tom Peterson at 245-4902. Thank you!!

Christopher lane off of Sunny hill drive had not been touched. I'm on sunny hill and a good friend did us a favor by clearing us so I'm not sure if it got overlooked because they thought it was done.
jazzgal February 12, 2013 at 05:02 PM
Just in From Hunters trl. A private contractor (Anderson?) with a front loader cleared Hunters trail. Not only that but he came in 50 feet up our steep hill to clear that as well. wow what a great guy. Hopefully now our private contractor can come in and finish the other 300 feet of the hill.

Pem McNerney (Editor) February 12, 2013 at 06:30 PM
Drove by way of Route 80 on the way home, to Route 79. Route 80 passable, but still very much a work in progress through North Branford, Guilford ... ConnDOT still working to widen it ... Seemed like many of the secondary and side roads off of Route 80 and Route 79 had been given at least some attention, but I only saw the top of the streets as they intersect with the state routes, did not drive all the way through ...
Pem McNerney (Editor) February 12, 2013 at 06:32 PM
Some nearby neighbors off of Neck Road wanted to give a shoutout to Henry "Butch" Cooney who, early on, came through their street and cleaned it carefully with a payloader. "You gotta have a plow guy named Butch," they said.
Pem McNerney (Editor) February 12, 2013 at 06:37 PM
Wanted you all to be the first to know ... From First Selectman Fillmore McPherson: "We are down to the last 4 roads, 3 of which are being worked on now, then the 4th. Then we will start going back to widen."
Pem McNerney (Editor) February 12, 2013 at 06:38 PM
So, if, by later this afternoon, your road has not been given at least one run through ... email storminfo@madisonct.org ... and tell them you heard that all roads were supposed to be at least passable by now and yours is not ...
Madison Mom February 13, 2013 at 12:37 AM
last night my 18 year old son almost got into an accident because a Madison police officer pulled directly in front of him and stopped him short. The officer told him not to follow a snow plow closely or consider passing the vehicle. My son, was not planning on either. Why can't the Madison police officers pick up shovels and start tearing down huge snow piles that are blocking roads instead of pulling kids over for no reason?
Carly March 08, 2013 at 04:33 PM
Whats the schedule of what roads will be plowed for Madison, CT? Does anyone know if rt 79, Bradley Corners Road, or Opening Hill Road have been plowed?
