Community Corner

Trucks! Tacos! Lobster Rolls! Cupcakes! Paco! And More Trucks!

It was a perfect day for the Touch-A-Truck event Saturday.

Sponsored by the Newcomer's Club, it affords youngsters and their parents the opportunity to climb around, touch, and even honk the horns of a police car, an ambulance, fire trucks, dump trucks, and even a U.S. Coast Guard rescue boat, which was a big favorite this year. So was Paco, the police dog, and all the fire trucks are always a huge hit.

The event is a great way for people in our town to get to know the emergency responders who protect and serve, and business people who help build our community, in a way that's low key and fun. Also on Saturday, there were four shoreline food trucks and live music by the Shaun Taylor Band. The $15 entry donation goes to support the College Scholarship Fund for Daniel Hand high school students.

Thanks to the Newcomer's Club for organizing it!
