Columbus Day Weekend Open Art Studio Trail
and Madison Green Arts Festival!  Enjoy an art-filled Columbus Day Weekend (October 6-7) with the Arts Center Killingworth's Autumn Art Trail including a FREE Open Art Studio Driving Trail and Outdoor Arts Festival on the Madison Town Green with live music and gourmet food options. Festival is open Saturday, October 6 (9:30am-5:30pm) and Sunday, October 7 (Noon-6pm); Open Arts Studios open Saturday (9:30am-5:30pm) and Sunday (11am-6pm). HAMMONASSET JAMBOREE THIS WEEKEND!
You won't want to miss the 2012 Hammonasset Jamboree, featuring music, native skills and nature.  This free event, sponsored by Liberty Bank, celebrates music, native skills and nature.  The event will be held at the Hammonasset Beach State Park on October 6th and 7th (Saturday and Sunday) from 8 am to 4pm.  Highlights of this year's event include:
* Schumann Bird Walk
* New England Atlati Championships
* Allan Saunders-Mohegan-Opening Blessing and Smudging Ceremony
* Ranger Russ Miller, Live Reptile & Amphibian Show
*  A Place Called Hope - Live Birds of Prey Exhibit
* Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo
* Pete Onofrio "Super Trance" Fusion of Rock, Jazz and Blues

The North Madison Congregational Church Tag Sale, rescheduled from last weekend, takes place on Saturday, Oct. 6 in the church's parking area. Items for sale will be arranged by departments: Antiques & Collectibles - Arts & Crafts - Bicycles & Yard Toys - Books, Media & Entertainment - Boutique - Clothing - Furniture - Garage & Attic Treasures - Holiday Shop - Housewares & Linens - Jewelry - Toys & Games.  


Speaking of North Madison, the North Madison Volunteer Fire Co. is holding an open house at its firehouse at the Route 79 traffic circle Sunday, October 7 from noon to 3 p.m.  The open house is being held in conjunction with National Fire Prevention week.  The open house will feature guided tours of the firehouse and equipment, hands on fire extinguisher training, a fire safety house with live smoke escape and other live demonstrations.

Take a Walk - it's great exercise and you can enjoy the beautiful autumn scenery!
At 7:30 am, each Monday and Wednesday morning in October, Linda Zimmerman of Better Health Workouts is organizing a walk that will leave the Senior Center parking lot and return by 8:30 am. Begin your day with a brisk walk, meet new people and be energized fro the rest of the day. No fee, just bring enthusiasm. All ages welcome.
