Save The Date: Madison Land Conservation Trust Moonlight Hike Sept. 30 7 p.m. At The Surf Club

Bagpipes. A walk under the Autumn moon. Refreshments at the Surf Club. And then a glimpse at the moon, planet and stars in the nighttime sky. Let's hope for good weather.

On Sunday, September 30, keep your fingers crossed for wonderful weather for the Madison Land Conservation Trust’s 18th annual Autumn Moonlight Walk. As always, Durant McCurley will play the bagpipes for walkers.

The event will take place on the Garvan Trail at the Madison Surf Club. Walkers should gather  by the Surf Club building at 6:45 pm, the walk will begin promptly at 7:00 pm. The trail is not difficult and families are encouraged to participate. However, the trail is not suitable for strollers or joggers.

After the walk, refreshments will be served in the Surf Club building. On the deck of the building, members of the Astronomical Society of New Haven will once again set up telescopes for viewing the moon, planets, and stars in the nighttime sky.

As always, there is no fee for this event. All participants should have a flashlight. The hike is cancelled in the event of rain.

The event sponsors are the Land Trust, the Astronomical Society of New Haven, and Madison’s Beach and Recreation Department.
