Hillary Clinton Appearance Draws More Than 1,000 in Madison

About 100 protestors assembled across the street.

Will she or won’t she, that seems to be the question on everyone’s minds, but one thing was for certain Saturday, and that is possible U.S. Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was in Madison.

People came from all over, more than 1,000 of them, and they waited in line for up to six hours to meet Clinton, who was signing her memoir, “Hard Choices” at R.J. Julia Booksellers Saturday afternoon.

The former U.S. Secretary of State, U.S. Senator, and first lady walked into the bookstore to applause, the New Haven Register’s Sean Carlin reports. U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., was also present.

Secret Service and police officers from the following departments including Madison, Guilford, Branford, East Haven, New Haven and North Haven were present.

Any overtime incurred would be billed to RJ Julia, the Register reported.

“She’s fantastic,” said Dr. Carol Tenney, of Essex, who told the Register that it was worth the two-hour wait to meet her. “I hope we get to vote for her.”

While everyone inside the bookstore supposed Clinton, there were about 100 protesters assembled across the street.
