We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children. Each week, we'll give you the info on the best family activities or events for the week.

You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

Duck Feeding

Where/When: Heser’s Pond

            Airline Road, Clinton                        

Why Go: Don’t forget your old bread! Put on some boots in case there is mud and enjoy feeding the ducks on a quiet afternoon. If you are really brave there are picnic tables and a gazebo if you plan to stay a while.

Where/When: Salon Massimo at Water’s Edge in Westbrook

            Sunday, March 26, 2011 11am-2pm

Why Go: Get that kid a haircut! A Cut-A-Thon to benefit Teenzone, a self-esteem program for girls 13-17, is a can’t miss opportunity for everyone dying for new spring look!

• Meet Captain Jack Sparrow

Where/When: Clinton 20th Annual Expo, Town Hall

            11am Saturday, March 26th, 2011

Why Go: If you bring your child’s favorite book then Jack Sparrow will sign it! Rumor has it that the Easter Bunny will be there too! The Expo will be open from 9:30am-3pm.

Pricing: Admission is FREE!

 

• Jellies: The Ocean in Motion

Where/When: Mystic Aquarium, Mystic CT           

Why Go: Not only do they have all types of jellies, but they have a 20ft one!

General Admission

Adult $26
Senior (age 60+) $23
Children (age 3 - 17) $19
Children (age 2 and under) Free!

HEADS UP- Depending on the size of your family it may be better to buy a Family Membership for $169

BONUS: Visit for two additional days with your ticket!  Have your admission ticket validated before you leave the Aquarium and use it to return for the next two consecutive days!

 

• Get a Book!

Where/When: R.J. Julia Booksellers, Madison CT

            Saturday, March 26, 2011 ONLY!

Why Do it: Take your reader to the bookstore and tell them your are participating in the Clinton PTA fundraiser and 15% of your purchase will go to the help the PTA! Don’t forget to hit the café on the way out!
