Best Picks For February: Unstoppable, Megamind, Due Date, Conviction

Mike Gatta, Owner Of Dial M For Movies In Madison, Spoke With Patch To Offer Best Picks For This Month

For the past couple months, Mike Gatta has provided Patch with his best picks for DVD releases in a given month.  February is no different--below find four great flix you can rent right here in town on a rainy night or if you just want to relax at home.

1. Unstoppable-- "This is one of two big releases for this month," Gatta said, "and is based on a true story."  The film, starring Denzel Washington and Chris Pine (Captain James Kirk in the recent Star Trek film), offers viewers their fair share of action.  This PG-13 film made over eighty million dollars at the box office between November and February.  The DVD is set for release February 15, 2011.

2. Megamind-- According to Gatta, this film is the other top release for February, and is "great for kids."  The animated comedy is rated PG and was released in both 3D and standard formats in the theaters, grossing over 145 million dollars.  With an all-star cast (Brad Pitt, Will Ferrell, Jonah Hill, Tina Fey and Ben Stiller), Megamind tells a classic story of good versus evil from the villain's point of view.  The DVD will be released on February 25, 2011.

3. Due Date-- Gatta's best pick for comedy pairs Robert Downey Jr. and Zack Galifianakis (The Hangover) in a cross-country journey.  Filled with laughs, this film is rated R.  The DVD will be released on February 22, 2011.  For movie buffs who enjoyed films such as The Odd Couple and Planes, Trains and Automobiles, this film presents a similar theme with some newer jokes.

4. Conviction-- Starring Hillary Swank, this film is based on a true story about a woman who goes through law school in hopes of getting her brother out of prison after he is sentenced for a crime he didn't commit.  Gatta's small film pick of the month is rated R and was released on DVD February 1, 2011.
