Madison, New Haven News Anchor Recognized For Support; To Step Out From Hammonasset In 2014!

Karen Butler presents to Darren Kramer, evening news anchor with WTHN News 8, an appreciation plaque for his support of the 2013 Walk MS, an annual event for which Kramer serves as grand marshal. Kramer, whose mother-in-law battles multiple sclerosis, has partnered with the walk event since 2006. The New Haven-based station has supported the annual walk with PSAs and news stories since 1999. Butler, who lives in Manchester, serves as vice president of marketing and public relations for the National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter. Last year’s Walk MS raised $1.36 million for the more than 6,000 Connecticut residents living with multiple sclerosis. The chapter expects to raise $1.4 million in 2014. Kramer, who lives in Madison, is again teaming up to lead the charge, this year from his hometown. For the first time ever, Walk MS will be hosted at Hammonasset Beach State Park, inMadison.  The Hammonasset Beach walk, led by Kramer, will be held Saturday, April 5 . The 2014 Walk MS offers 12 walk sites, most of which will be held the following day, Sunday, April 6. Lunch is provided compliments of Subway and Coca-Cola. Registration is free but participants are encouraged to raise funds in support of friends and loved ones battling MS.
