Madison Historical Society Summer Exhibit Opens

Madison Historical Society's "Business of Leisure" Summer Exhibit opens at the Lee's Academy, 14 Meetinghouse Lane,  on Friday, July 5 at 6 p.m. with a Members-Only preview party.  If you are not yet a member of the Madison Historical Society, you can join right at the preview party.
The exhibit opens to the public on Saturday, July 6 at 11 a.m. and is open every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. through August 31.  The exhibit will stay open late on Saturday, July 6 to enable those who are attending the concert on the Green to view this fascinating portal to the past.

The "Business of Leisure" exhibit traces Madison's economic evolution from a small, mostly agrarian community in the mid 1800's to a popular summer vacation destination.  Featuring intriguing items from the Historical Society's collection of artifacts, apparel, photographs, and documents, the exhibit offers a fascinating and entertaining glimpse into the past. Visitors will discover how Madison's summer colony grew in the decades from 1850 to 1950--and will be reminded that Madison remains a lively summer getaway destination.
