On Saturday, May 12th downtown Madison will once again be the site of Raise the Roof, a live Habitat for Humanity ‘build’ on the Green from 8 am to 5 pm. The event will include large- and small-scale building projects, live music performed by local artists and food for purchase. All volunteers are welcome, and no construction or building experience is necessary.
Raise the Roof has opportunities for volunteers of all ages. If you are age 16 or older and want to swing a hammer, register for Framing Walls. Building a garden bench or window box for a special mother in your life is a great family project in downtown Madison. Youth age 8 and older can assemble and paint porch railings that will be used on Habitat homes. Click on the above links for more details and online registration at www.madisoncares.org.
Funds from Raise the Roof will support the $50,000 commitment for Madison Cares House #8, now in progress.
