"It'll Be Business As Usual But, Unfortunately, Without Him"
Employees at Tuxis Hardware saddened to hear about passing of owner Charlie Hale, but say business will continue as usual "hopefully for another 50 plus years." Calling hours Wednesday and remembrance scheduled for Sunday.
Tuxis Lumber Company and True Value Hardware will be closed Sunday to mark the death of owner Charlie Hale this past weekend, says manager Chuck Sweet, who said employees were saddened to hear the news of Hale's passing.
Other than that, he said, "the business is going to continue as it always has, hopefully for another 50 plus years."
"It's a vital part of the Madison community and we look forward to continuing to serve Madison," he said. "It'll be business as usual, unfortunately without Charlie."
Hale, a graduate of Daniel Hand High School, lived in Killingworth with his family. There will be a remembrance service Sunday, Feb. 12 from 12 to 3 p.m. at the Centerbrook Meetinghouse, at 51 Main Street, Centerbrook. Sad news, Charlie built an institution focused on customer service while weathering the uncertainty of town changes (rail road station) and the worst economic downturn in 80 years. I hope Tuxis carries on.
