Brisk tree and wreath sales kept Friends of Hammonasset volunteers busy throughout the weekend.  The selection of 6 1/2-to 8-foot Fraser and Canaan firs, Colorado blue spruce, and Concolor Christmas trees dwindled as discriminating shoppers checked trees for height, fullness, girth, and fragrance.

As long as the tree supply lasts, the sale will continue through Sunday, Dec. 19.

The roadside tree stand is located off Route 1 north of the park's main entrance.  Proceeds from the tree and wreath sale will be used for improvements, plantings, and education programs at Hammonasset Beach State Park. The trees, priced between $35 and $55, are for sale from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekends and between noon and 4 p.m. on weekdays.

Did you get a tree this year? Live or artificial? Tell us in the comments.
