Fire destroys trash bin and damages part of telephone pole in front of Blue Jay Cleaners around 2:15 a.m.

An overnight fire that burnt a wooden decorative trash bin and telephone pole downtown is under investigation, according to fire officials.

Madison Hose Co. No. 1 Captain Robert Kyttle said the Madison Police Department was the first on the scene at the fire, which was reported around 2:15 a.m. The police officer "knocked the fire down" with a fire extinguisher, Kyttle said.
